DeCaul and Clarke pushed Greg to the floor in a vain attempt to prevent the fire spreading. "What are you playing at, fool?" remarks Clarke, in a Mr-T-from-the-A-Team-style voice. Other students tried to quench the flames with the only source of water available - small bottles for washing out volumetric flasks. Disasterously, the rate of water flowing from the bottles was annoyingly feeble. The fire rapidly engulfed the science block and surrounding buildings.
