Bismuth triiodide
The bismuth triiodide (BiI3) crystal structure type

Wikipedia: Bismuth(III) iodide

Greenwood & Earnshaw: p. 559

The bismuth triiodide structure can be thought of as a hexagonal close packed array of anions, with one third of the octahedral holes filled: layers alternating between empty and two-thirds filled by cations.

Every anion is surrounded by two cations and has bent coordination geometry. Every cation is approximately octahedrally coordinated by six anions.
